Before you begin…
In this article, we’ll show you how to install the Maschine Controller Driver, update the firmware, and set up your Maschine MK3 with the Maschine 2 software on both Mac and PC. Before you can setup your Maschine MK3, you need to register the hardware to your Native Instruments account and install both the Maschine 2 and Komplete 11 Select software using Native Access. If you have not already done so, please click the Register & Install button above and follow the instructions before proceeding.
Once done, Mac users can start by updating the firmware, however, Windows users will need to first install the Maschine Controller Driver.
Install Maschine Controller Driver for Windows
Audio and MIDI devices often require “drivers” to communicate with your computer. While macOS does not need a driver (Class Compliant) for Maschine MK3, it is required for Windows. Follow the steps below to install the Maschine MK3 driver for Windows.
Install Maschine MK3 Windows Driver
1. Go to Native Instrument’s downloads page and scroll down to Maschine Controller. Then, click Maschine MKIII Controller Driver to start the download.
2. Open your Downloads folder, select the Maschine_MK3 folder and click Extract All to unzip it. Once the extraction finishes, delete the .zip folder.
3. Open the new uncompressed folder and launch the Maschine MK3 Driver Setup PC.exe. Then, follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver.
Once the driver has been installed, follow these steps to restart your system:
1. Power off computer.
2. Connect and power on Maschine MK3.
3. Power on computer.

Update Maschine MK3 Firmware
Before using your Maschine MK3, we recommend updating it with the most recent firmware from Native Instruments. Firmware is the computer programming instructions stored on the Maschine MK3 hardware itself and can be updated from both Windows and macOS operating systems. To update your Maschine MK3, follow the steps below. Once done, we recommend restarting your system.
- Power off computer and then the Maschine MK3.
- Wait about 10 seconds.
- Power on the Maschine MK3 and then the computer.
Computers usually need a few moments after startup to find device drivers and launch background applications. When your computer is ready, launch the Maschine 2 application.
Download Maschine MK3 Firmware Updater
1. Connect Maschine MK3 to your computer and power it on.
2. Power on your computer.
3. Go to Native Instrument’s downloads page and scroll down to Maschine Controller.
4. Click the Firmware Updater for Maschine MK3 for Windows or macOS.
Update Maschine MK3 Firmware
Windows
1. Go to your Downloads folder.
2. Select the MK3_FWUpdater .zip folder and click Extract All to unzip it. Next, open the newly uncompressed folder and launch the MC3Updater.exe inside.
3. Click Update to begin the firmware update.
macOS
1. Go to your Downloads folder.
2. Double click the MK3_FWUpdater .zip folder and a MC3Updater app will be appear in your Downloads. Double click the app to launch it.
3. Click Update to begin the firmware update.

Configure Maschine MK3 in Maschine 2
When Maschine 2 launches, it will scan for library content and prompt you to update your Audio and MIDI preferences. The scan will load all of the library content that appears in Native Access so that it appears in Maschine 2. When prompted to update your audio and MIDI preferences, follow the steps below.
